365 Days of Film (17): I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

Synopsis: Four teens are in great danger one year after their car hits a stranger whose body they dumped in the sea.

Some things I really love about this movie are the cast, character development, and the whole mystery behind the killer. This is one hot ass fucking cast, minus Freddie Prinze Jr. and his guido-blowout. Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Helen Shivers) is a goddess. The character development is astounding in comparison to most horror films where we meet someone and within 5 minutes of learning their name we’ve seen their insides. Probably the best part, the whole “reveal” of the killer, is really mind-boggling because it’s not any of the original suspects and there’s a real story behind it all.

I feel like anyone with a liking for films has seen this movie at least once so I don’t really need to go into great detail about it. I’ll just say that I love the fuck out of this film and even though it was poorly received by critics I feel it’s a good example of a cult classic.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, watch it. If you have seen this movie, watch it again and again and again.
